Is there a Polish website for booking overnight trains. I need to travel from Krakow to Olzstyn in Poland?

  • Hi,

In the next 2 weeks i will be on holiday in Poland and need a decent train that gets me from Krakow to North poland (Olzstyn).
I can also catch a bus or whatever, i just need somewhere to sleep and travel at the same time. Can anyone Polish please help me.

    many thanks

  • Unfortunately you cannot book a train ticket. You can only buy it on the station or in a travel office.
But to see at what hour you can catch a train, visit pkp.pl and type Kraków to OLSZTYN. But remember: in both cities you have more than one train station!
I don't think that taking a bus in Poland (pks) is a good idea. Usually they are expensive, uncomfortable and always late. And it's really long way from one to another...
There is a lot of trains from Kraków, like every 2 hours, but some of them are cheaper and the journey lasts more, and some of them are expensive (eurocity [ECC], intercity trains [ICC]), but the journey is shorter. I think, that there's no possibility to get to Olsztyn from Krakow without any change.
    Good luck!

  • I am not Polish, but my grandmother's mother was born in Olsztyn (watch the correct writing, otherwise you don't get time-table results).

There is a night train departing Krakow Glówny at 22:53 (10:53pm)
in direction to Gdynia which reaches Dzialdowo at 08:11 next morning.
From there the train from Warshaw departs at 08:39 to reach Olsztyn Glówny at 09:49. The regular fare amounts to 82 zl. (€23/£18/$31) in 2nd class and 92 zl. (€26/£20/$35) in 1st class.

  • the most comfortable way to get there with some sleep is by PKP train they have stations in every major and smaller city/towns. I went from Gdansk(baltic coast) to Wroclaw for 50 zt which is 25 canadian dollars. However to rent a bed in a sleeper car it costs extra(dont know how much) and i think they only rent does out on night routes. By bus (PKS) it is generally cheaper however it can be just as expensive as a regular long distance train ticket.
