Ernst & Young Goes Dotcom

Nine of the finalists were from dotcoms and included: Aventail's Evan Kaplan, ImageX.com's Joe Verschueren, drugstore.com's Peter Neupert, Internap's Tony Naughtin, Onvia's Glenn Ballman, The Cobalt Group's John Holt, Avenue A's Nick Hanauer, Network Commerce's Dwayne Walker and Point.com's Court Lorenzini.
In fact, all of the judges for this year's program are a part of the internet industry. The four judges are: Bill McAleer from Voyager Capital, Tom Simpson from Northwest Venture Associates, Shannon Houser from University of Washington / Returns Online, Diane Irvine from Blue Nile and Terry Drayton from HomeGrocer.com
According to Ernst & Young Program Manager Michael Balt, the number of dotcom participants continues to increase from year to year.
Even brick and mortar food chain Taco Del Mar had an internet connection. Finalist James Schmidt, CEO of food chain Taco Del Mar, told seattle.internet.com that he's thinking about implementing some significant upgrades on his company's website.
In addition, one of Taco Del Mar's co-founders John Scannel, who was also at the event, is now the director of development for Omniword.com, a young dotcom startup that is developing a website localization product.
The winner of this year's program will be announced at a special ceremony on June 22nd.
