Overclockers Australia - September 2006:: Full of fast-paced action both in space and on foot, Eternal Silence offers a .. Zalman Reserator 1 V2 watercooling system (video review) on 3DGameMan. http://www.overclockers.com.au/months.php?month=78HOME | No longer must users choose between good cooling and low noise. With the Reserator 1, Zalman provides the opportunity to experience great cooling in virtual silence. Let s look at what you get, how well it performs, how it compares to traditional water coolers, and any other considerations that might affect the user.
| | We Received the Reserator 1 cooling kit in the retail box. | Included in the retail package are the Reserator reservoir/passive radiator (with internal pump), a retail packaged water block, various hardware, a length of silicon hose, and the user s manual. | The Reserator Reservoir/Radiator | | |
| The Reserator s 23.25 inch height (6 diameter) is taller than most mid-tower cases. | Virtual-Hideout.Net | News Archive:: Sep 10, 2007 Zalman Reserator XT Hybrid Liquid Cooling System Review @ Virtual- Setup took minutes, and the results were literally breathtaking. http://www.virtual-hideout.net/news/arc8-2007.shtmlHOME | JohnieBG.NET - A website about one person presented as if everyone :: Check back circa the end of March to find out just what difference the 'Zalman Reserator 2 fanless water cooling' had to offer the johniebg quiet PC http://www.johniebg.net/HOME | The Reserator achieves passive cooling via its enormous surface area. The top unscrews for filling and has a small vent hole to equalize pressure. The bottom also unscrews, revealing the internal pump.
| | The Reserator relies on a small, submersed pump. | The pump can be replaced with an external unit, and supplied internal house fittings may facilitate use of a different style internal pump (although we didn t explore these possibilities). Instructions for pump replacement can be found in the manual. Zalman s water block is a simple two-piece, two-hole part. A gold plated copper base screws into an aluminum top. Nickel/chrome plated line fittings are most likely of brass construction. Documentation shows the disassembled unit with no special water channels, but we were unable to get ours apart without the use of tools (which would have damaged the finish).
| | Brackets included fit most Pentium 4 and Athlon boards. | Included with the block were paper washers, thermal grease, a case sticker, screws, and brackets to mount this unit on P4 and Athlon64 boards. Mounting provisions for Athlon XP processors require boards having four holes for oversized coolers. Zalman neglected any clip-type mounting provisions, for which a three-tab clip could have sufficed. Also overlooked were Socket 775 brackets.
| | The gold-plated base is polished to a mirror finish. | Zalman included four pinch clamps to stop the flow of water during disassembly, along with an extra hose fitting and plug for converting the Reserator to an alternative pump, spare seals, two pass-through fittings for hoses exiting the case, and a flow indicator.
| Internal part of flow indicator (right) wiggles during operation. |
| | Zalman also provided their optional VGA kit in a separate retail package. | Zalman s VGA cooling kit includes 2 sizes of water block, 8 self-adhesive RAM sinks, thermal grease, mounting hardware, hose clamps, and a screwdriver. Mounting either water block requires a card with mounting holes, and the brackets provide enough adjustability to fit most hole positions.
| | Since the smaller block fit our card, we re considering the larger part as a chipset cooler (bonus)! |
